AT&T, Frontline ask FCC to reconsider 700MHz auction rules

Eric Bangeman at ars technica writes;

“AT&T wants the Commission to outline the public safety requirements in more detail in advance of the auction. The telecom says that the FCC has failed to provide a mechanism “for the public safety community to disclose the most rudimentary requirements that it deems fundamental” for the public/private partnership. AT&T also wants to ensure that public safety broadband licensees are required to use the technology mandated by the company, and keep from having to make an expensive default payment if “good faith” negotiations fail to produce a public/private partnership agreement.”

What Public/Private partnership would AT&T be talking about??? Negotiations in good faith? For what??? This is an auction folks. The winning bidder takes the prize. Oh… is someone preparing to contest the winning bidder if they’re not it? Laying the groundwork for some nature of losing spinola?

Not to forget to mention;

Verizon unhappy with 700MHz open access requirements, sues FCC

Where Eric also tells us;

“Verizon is taking its irritation over the FCC’s rules to the courts, asking the US District Court of Appeals for the DC Circuit to set them aside.”

Awwww, now boyzzz - irritation? Damn - Verizon and AT&T sound like both are afraid of losing some level of control here… keep up the good work Google!!!
