Free promotion by giving up prizes
I’ve been meaning to push this article out for a while now and only just noticed that Yaro has already posted his spin on this topic, so I’ll be brief.
The thought first entered my head when Darren was asking for prizes for a ProBlogger competition. His headline was “Publicize Yourself By Giving A Prize” and he was damn right. Having your product or service offered on a site like ProBlogger would defiantly have an impact on your business. That got me thinking, there must be other sites running competitions that I could prey on. Having a service like web hosting or a product like an e-Book doesn’t really cost anything to give away as a prize so it’s well worth it for the publicity.
So there you have it, free promotion and web traffic by giving something away for free - ingenious.

I’ve done/doing now this type of thing and hoping to get linked by other sites to up readership/traffic while giving away something cool to the community or pretty much anybody who wants to win something.
I’ve tried 2 giveaways so far that had little effect on anything, but i’m hoping for the latest to do some good things.
I guess it’s all a fun experiment.
