Keeping track

by admin on January 15th, 2006

We all get excited when a blog mentions our name, some more so than others. I had a problem where I would leave comments somewhere or miss out on seeing a post that included my name and I thought to myself.. how can I keep track of everything? At first I thought, whoa a unique business idea.

Ching Ching!

Then I remembered Technorari and how you can search by keywords. A quick test and I found myself with an answer, typing in Jamsi brought up exactly what I wanted to see. Besides the foreign language entries, it works fairly well.

Then I thought to myself, what about those who haven’t got a nickname and go purely on first name? Scrivs and I are fine, not many people with blogs use the nickname “Jamsi” or “Scrivs” and when either name is mentioned most people know who the hell we are.

If you post comments or posts with the name “Bob Anderson” for example, you may have trouble keeping track of things and with so many blog networks around plastering each other, you may never know if someone said something nasty!

P.S Who likes this new workboxers design? Sex. Props to Scrivs and his design man. Pure CSS too.

In the 9rules forums we have a forum where members talk about ideas they have for sites/businesses, but just don’t have the time or resources to execute them. One of them was a commenting pinging service that allowed you to ping a comment server and keep track online of which discussions were updated via an online tool like Bloglines.

There definitely is a need for something like this, especially for all the folks that go from site-to-site leaving comments. Just don’t know how much money is in it and therefore nobody may wish to pursue it.

And I love the new design as well. Definitely much easier to write for a site when you are attracted to its looks.

You know, I was surprised to see the new digs. Props around. That green is super kool.
