Buying traffic? I don’t think so.

by admin on December 20th, 2005

Just thought I’d do a quick follow up to my “Buying Traffic” post for those that didn’t read my last comment.

My previous post on this topic talked about how I ventured out and purchased traffic with my measly $1.95. Oh yeah, it felt good at the time. The ability to pay something so small and have traffic sent my way, I thought I had reached heaven.

But instead heaven shut its gates and sent me packing, wondering if that $1.95 could have filled my then empty stomach with a McDonalds Cheeseburger.

The results haven’t been too good I’m afraid, I’m not sure if I mentioned this but they only send 50 customers a day as to even the traffic out. I have NOT noticed any increase in adsense revenue or any huge leap in traffic. I see a whole heap of visitors in my stats that come from a proxy server, but other than that - I was disappointed.

As I mentioned in my post different people might have better luck, it all depends on what your site is about and whether a untargeted audience would be interested in your blog. I sent the traffic to my funny video’s website and saw that most users came from either Germany or China (half spoke german according to Google analytics). Does anyone have a blog or website geared towards a german audience? If so give it a whirl!

Just thought I’d let you know that the cap on daily visitors is set to 50 by default, if you log into your account on the site you can increase this to whatever you think your hosting can cope with.

I think thats just the problem. You don’t know what to expect from the traffic. So sending Germans and Chinese people to your site wont help a bit.

Hey, you could always pay me the $1.95, and I’ll visit your site every morning! :-)

I also gave it a shot. I bumped the daily vistors up to 125 (the max they will allow). Less than 2 percent ventured past the homepage. I did receive higher revenue though, approximately 15 percent increase over last month’s revenue. The site I used is a gaming related site with some very well placed ads. If you are using this service in hopes of attracting new users, go buy that cheeseburger instead.

Try again with a targeted plan. People use it for new websites including messageboards usually from sitepoint, webhostingtalk, and they’ve told me they get decent results. More visitors joining and posting.
