Frustrating

by Paul on May 11th, 2005

Thanks Wayne.

Darren and Chris linked to me from their articles, but you failed to mention me, yet you acknowledge the other three bloggers who wrote about the topic based off of my entry. Goes to show that even if you start the original content it doesn’t mean you will always get credit for it. Makes you want to go back to all syndicate sites. Frustrating.

That does suck. Happens to me all the time. I’ve stopped trying to pay attention.

To be fair, it could be an honest mistake. If Wayne read Darrens post via RSS, its possible that he didn’t realize Darren was referencing your article (I’ve just read Darrens post and I can see how this might be the case when read though RSS with the links removed).

I’m not making excuses for it as such, because obviously he should have researched it properly and read the article via a browser (if indeed my theory is correct).

I feel perhaps a quick email to Wayne pointing it out to him might have got you somewhere, but this post and your subsequent comment to Waynes article probably won’t do you any favors.

I agree LB that it could be a mistake, but then if he linked to Chris’ entry as well I have to discount that theory.

I wrote about this because like Keith, this happens all too often. I do not recommend writing when you frustrated or angry, but in this case it came out, for better or for worse.

Paul, I hate that your original link got omitted. I even put it right up front on the entry I wrote inspired by the post. I can’t even guess how it got missed, just hate that it did.

Happens to me all the time. What’s a moose to do?

Welcome to the media biz Paul. This type of thing happens all the time in the newspaper, magazine and television world of journalism so you better get used to it.
