Amazon Stores Update
Back in January I wrote about my failure to check on some of my Amazon stores and because of this I lost a significant amount of money because they were no longer working. In all honesty I figured I was toast because Google probably got tired (we like to talk about Google like it’s a person) and decided to no longer visit the sites.
But instead of sitting back, I took the proactive approach to see what I could salvage. I moved most of the sites to their own domains and placed a redirect in the .htaccess file on the 9rules domain. This resulted in a little bit of money again, but nothing to jump up and down about.
Last week I decided to link the stores on some of my major sites and Mr. Google has decided to spider the hell out of the sites this week. Yesterday I almost reached a triple digit revenue day. I am still not getting the pageviews and clicks that I was last year, but looking at the trend things are going back up.
This would not be possible though if I did not put focus on my content sites. Many people have this wild idea that they can put up an Amazon store and watch the cash come in. Sure a couple bucks a quarter might come in, but that really isn’t worth the time it takes to implement a store.
Create a quality content site and connect a store with it and this is where you will see success. It won’t be great, but it will be something. I still believe the best way is by writing product reviews yourself and linking to Amazon. Conversion rate is much better.

I have messed with Amazon Associates with minimal success. Can you point out any good resources for setting up an “Amazon store” or even just point out some of your content site/Amazon store combos as examples?

Hey Scrivs, on your chef vault, where do those recipes come from? Yourself, people who submit them, or what?
